Description
This collection of programmes for the Manchester Gentlemen's Concerts contain 12 volumes of programmes dating from 1802-1895. There is also a scrapbook of programmes and press cuttings dating from September 1883 to May 1888. There is also a folder of loose material containing the following programmes:

Collections Overview
The Henry Watson Music Library is named after Dr. Henry Watson, a renowned composer and teacher born in nearby Accrington. After his death in 1911 he bequeathed the contents of his private library to the care of Manchester City Council. Watson's original collection (some 16,700 volumes) has been supplemented by many important donations and acquisition since and has grown into one of the largest collections of music in any public library.
