Description
Collection of Edinburgh Choral Union Programmes (1874-1883). Founded in 1858, these programs indicate that the union promote seven or eight concerts per year, with no conductor listed. The programme notes are very extensive, with musical examples, texts, and translations, some of which are extracted from the programmes of the Crystal Palace Saturday Concerts and Glasgow Choral Union. The concerts consist of orchestral, solo and choral works. First Edinburgh performances of some works are indicated. Collection consists of five volumes arranged chronologically: ESM.10.33: 1874-75 ESM.10.34: 1875-76 ESM.10.35: 1877 ESM.10.36: 1878 ESM.10.37: 1882-83
