Description
One bound volume of programmes from the Choral and Orchestral Union of Glasgow, instituted 1898 (1927-28 season), all concerts performed in St. Andrew's Hall. At the front of the volume is a season prospectus describing both series (Tuesday and Saturday concerts), with seating charts, names (and some biographies) of soloists, and lists of guarantors.
Each concert consists of the Scottish Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Golschmann, Wilfrid Senior, Albert Coates or Hermann Abendroth with a different soloist, sometimes with the Glasgow Choral Union. Programmes contain lists of guarantors and subscribers, conductor and soloist biographies, lists of orchestral players and chorus members, analytical notes with musical examples, and song texts and translations.
