Description
A miscellaneous collection of handbills and programmes across the 1960’s to the 1990’s, held in 16 boxes of loose programmes from which form the collection of Jim Brister.
The largest part of this collection consists of operatic souvenir programmes from all over the world, but there are a number of miscellaneous programmes, and a sizable number for orchestral performances.
Brister also donated a large number of Royal Opera House, English National Opera, and Welsh National Opera programmes. These have been incorporated into the larger collection of programmes for these organisations that are held at the Bodleian. All of these programmes have been individually catalogued and can be viewed through Oxford University’s SOLO library search engine.
Many of the programmes contain newspaper clippings of reviews, tickets and other ephemera associated with the performance or opera.
