Description
A miscellaneous collection of handbills and programmes for performances given at various venues in Oxford and Oxfordshire – principally college venues, Holywell Music Room, and the Town Hall – between 1970 and 1972. Held as the ninth box in a growing collection of material relating to musical activity in Oxford from 1831 to the present day.
In addition to programmes for individual performances (see below), the box also contains a booklet outlining the history of the Oxford Harmonic Society between 1921 - 1971 for its 50th anniversary (includes a history of conductors and a complete list of all works performed), An undated concert of popular music from France and Italy in the 1500 – 1550, by the Oxford Early Music group, English Bach Festival, Oxford guides, to the events in April 1970, April 1971 and 2 short leaflets for the 1971 Festival. The April 1972 English Bach Festival, Oxford guide is also accompanied by a newspaper clipping reviewing various concerts from the series and an advertising leaflet/ event calendar.
