Description
A collection of flyers, leaflets, posters and booking brochures from the Oxford International Song Festival*, starting from the first festival in 2002, and continuing onto their most recent concerts.
*Oxford international Song Festival changed its name in 2023. It was previously known as Oxford Lieder Festival.

2002 - Chamber Music by Schubert - 26th June - 5th of July 2002 - A programme advertising a series of 7 Concerts dedicated to Schubert lieder as the first festival of song, performed at the Holywell Music Rooms or the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building.
2004 - Works of Brahms - 10th - 23rd October 2004 - A programme for the third festival in 2004, advertising a series of 14 concerts dedicated to Brahms lieder, performed at the Holywell Music Room. The programme also advertises pre-concert talks, workshops and masterclasses run by Oxford Lieder Festival.
2005 - 15 - 29th October. A programme detailing the concerts and events of the fourth Oxford Lieder Festival in 2005.
2005 - The Crocodile by llywelyn Ap Myrddin - 29th October - 2.00pm .A leaflet advertising a new musical drama entitled "The Crocodile." Conducted by Timothy Burke with recent members of Guildhall school of Music and Drama. Performed at the Holywell Music Room.
2006 - 13th - 28th October. A programme detailing the concerts and events of the fifth Oxford Lieder Festival in 2006.
2007 - 12th - 29th October. A programme detailing the concerts and events of the sixth Oxford Lieder Festival in 2007.
2008 - 10th - 25th October. A letter outlining the Schubert opening weekend of the seventh Festival in 2008.
2009 - 16th - 31st October. A programme detailing the concerts and events of the eigth Oxford Lieder Festival in 2009 .
2009 - 21st October, 8pm. A programme for the Royal Academy of Music - Song Circle, performing a concert of Lieder by Felix Mendelssohn. Performed at the Holywell Music Room by Aoife Miskelly, Roderick Morris, Peter Davoren, Marcus Farnsworth, Christopher Hopkins and Colin Scott. A concert from the 2009 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2013 - A letter detailing the events taking place through the year. Highlights include Dame Harriet Walter narrating a concert around Brittens music on the 15th February.
2013 - February - June. A programme advertising the Oxford Lieder Spring concert series in 2023.
2013 -11th - 26th October. A programme detailing the concerts and events of the twelfth Oxford Lieder Festival in 2013. Included is a separate postcard advertising the same event entitled "take me to your lieder," and a letter addressed to Oxford Lieder supporters.
2013 - 15th October, 8.00 pm. A programme of a concert of Art songs by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Duparc, Berlioz, Quilter and two traditional songs. Performed at the Church of St. john the Evangelist by Sir Willard White, Sylvia Kevorkian and Eugene Asti. A concert from the 2013 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2013 - 20th October, 8.00 pm. A programme - entitled 'Britten Remembered' - of songs composed by Britten, Purcell/Britten, Warlock, Howells and Vaughan Williams. performed at the Holywell Music Room by James Bowman and Andrew Plant. A concert from the 2013 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2014 - 10th October, 7.30 pm. The opening concert of the 2014 festival of songs by Schubert as part of the Schubert project, includes texts and translations. Performed at the Sheldonian Theatre by Sarah Connolly CBE, John Mark Ainsley, Joshua Elliot, James Gilchrist, Daniel Norman, Neal Davies, William Dazeley, Stephan Loges, Christopher Maltman and Sholto Kynoch. A concert from the 2014 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2014 - 19th October, 7.30pm. A complete performance of Schubert's song cycle, "Die Schone Mullerin," includes texts and translations. Performed at St John the Evangelist Church, by Christoph Prégardien and Roger Vignoles. A concert from the 2014 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2014 - 20th October, 7.30pm. A programme of songs by Schubert entitled "The Trout & other water music, including texts and translations. Performed at the Holywell Music Room, by James Gilchrist, Anna Tilbrook and The Schubert Ensemble. A concert from the 2014 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2016 - 14th - 29th October. A Flyer advertising the 2016 Lieder Festival entitled "The Schumann Project." Contains a letter addressed to oxford Lieder Supporters and 2 leaflets advertising the festivals Lunchtime Recital series and Chamber music recitals taking place during the festival.
2016 - 24th October, 4.15pm. A programme of music by Robert and Clara Schuman, including texts and translations. Performed at The Weston Library: Blackwell Hall by Schola Cantorum of Oxford under the direction of James Burton.
2016 - 24th October, 7.30pm. A programme of music and readings entitled "Shakespeare in Song," including texts and translations. The programme contains art songs set to words of William Shakespeare by Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Schubert, Korngold, Debussy, Berlioz, Sibelius, Tippett, Wainwright and Porter. Performed at the Sheldonian theatre by Anne Sofie von Otter and Julius Drake, with readings from Simon Robson. A concert form the 2016 Oxford Lieder Festival.
2017 - A series of Letters, programmes, leaflets and flyers for concerts and events held by Oxford Lieder festival throughout the year including "a spring weekend of song" (3-5th March which includes programmes for 5 events across the weekend. Also includes leaflets advertising the 2017 Oxford Lieder Festival and 6 programmes from that years festival, including the opening night concert and the festival finale.
Mus. 311 c.23 (2014) - 10th October - 1st November 2014. "the Schubert project." - The UK's First Complete Performance of Schubert's Songs. An A4 105 page Oxford Lieder Festival brochure which details the performances of Schubert's art songs over the course of the 2014 Oxford Lieder Festival. It includes a 10 chapter biography of Schubert's life through his composing of lieder, as well as a concert calendar, artist biographies and and a complete list of all the works performed.
Mus. 311 d.23 (2015) - 16th - 31st October 2015. "Singing Words, Poets And Their Songs." A A5 132 page Oxford Lieder Festival brochure which details the performances over the course of the 2015 Oxford Lieder Festival. The brochure is arranged chronologically through the festivals concerts and includes in-depth articles about the composers, poets and pieces included in each concert, as well as artist biographies of the various performers.
Mus. 311 d.23 (2016) - 14th - 29st October "The Schumann project: The Light and Shade of Romanticism. An A5 120 page Oxford Lieder Festival brochure which details the performances of both Robert and Clara Schumann's art song compositions over the course of the 2016 Oxford Lieder Festival. It includes a 10 chapter biography of Schumann's life through his composing of lieder, as well as a concert schedule and artist biographies.
Mus. 311 d.23 (2017) - 13th - 28th October 2017. "The Last of the Romantics: Mahler and Fin-De-Siecle Vienna." An A5 88 page Oxford Lieder Festival brochure which details the performances of art songs composed by Mahler, his predecessors, his contemporaries and his successors over the course of the 2016 Oxford Lieder Festival. It includes a chaptered history of Mahler's Vienna and the composing of lieder at the time, as well as artist biographies of all the performers during the festival.
Mus.311 c.23 (2002 - present). Contains a small amount of larger or A4 sized concert Programmes, Festival guides and advertisements.
Mus.311 d.23 (2018) - A complete set of programmes for the 2018 Oxford Lieder Festival "The Grand Tour: A European Journey in Song" (12th - 27th October). Contains some advertisement leaflets and flyers for events across the festival. Also included is the "A spring weekend of Song" concert schedule (9th - 11th March 2018).
Mus.311 d.23 (2019) - A complete set of programmes for the 2019 Oxford Lieder Festival "Tales of the Beyond" (11th - 26th October) including a festival guide. Contains some advertisement leaflets and flyers for events across the festival. Also included is a masterclass for music college applicants with Robin Bowman (28th November), programmes from a January 26th/30th performance and 9th/13th of June performance, a programme for a concert in memory of Martin Peters (1st May) and 2 programmes from "A Spring Weekend of song (5-7 April)."
Mus. 311 d.23 (2020 - 21) - A complete set of programmes for the 2021 20th Oxford Lieder Festival "Nature's Songbook" (11th - 26th October) including a festival guide. Also included is a programme of Schubert songs performed on the 18th, 21st and 23rd of May at various locations.
Also included in this box is a short booklet - with an accompanying letter - advertising Oxford Lieder Festivals events throughout 2020.
2020 - Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the events of the 2020 festival were held online. A complete collection of Digital PDF programmes - including a festival guide - is available on request.
Mus. 311 d.23 (2022) - A complete set of programmes for the 2022 Spring song (17th - 20th March) including Young artist audition recital and a weekend concert schedule. Also included is the 2022 Oxford Lieder Festival "Friendship in Song" Festival guide (14th - 29th October 2022)
Mus. 311 d.23 (2023) - A complete set of programmes for the 2023 Oxford International Song Festival "Art:Song Images/Words/Music" (13th - 28th October) including a festival guide and highlights leaflet.
