Description Sounds Like Birmingham – UK City of Music 1992.

In 1991 the Arts Council launched a project titled “Arts 2000” to celebrate a different art form in a different part of the country each year between 1992 and 2000. The first of the series awarded Birmingham the title “UK City of Music 1992” and encompassed “a huge range of different musics for all tastes”. In addition to the events promoted by the major arts organizations in Birmingham, the year long festival had a very large community programme involving new music and music in unusual venues.

The collection of approximately 750 items includes 11 boxes of publicity material, published items, administrative files, correspondence, reports, some concert programmes and 2 boxes of press cuttings.
