Description Max Mossel's Concerts. A volume of approximately 20 programmes, 1910-1915.
The violinist Max Mossel, one time leader of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, came to Birmingham in 1895 to teach at the Midland Institute School of Music. Between 1898-1925 he organised a series of chamber concerts, using a large number of prestigious foreign soloists. Many of these were held in the Grosvenor Rooms of the Grand Hotel, Colmore Row, Birmingham, and from 1900 these were referred to as Drawing Room Concerts.

Viewing the Collection There are charges for photocopying, photographic reproductions and local history publications. Extended searches by staff may be chargeable.

Access to printed and electronic resources is free and does not require advance booking. Certain archival and photographic material may require advance notice - please telephone to make an appointment.
Public Library, Free access. Everyone wanting access to archival material requires a County Archive Research Network ticket (CARN). You can register here for a ticket, free of charge, with official proof of identification. You will need to bring official proof of your current printed address, name and signature, such as a driving licence. Alternatively, you could provide one proof of your name and signature (passport, cash card or credit card) together with one proof of your current address (recent bank statement, utilities bill, medical card, council tax demand or social security book). You will need to bring your ticket on each visit.
