Description
A collection of two boxes of programmes and prospectuses from the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, from 1922 to 1990. The collection also includes other items of ephemera, for example information about the Usher Hall Renewal programme (2000). The majority of programmes and prospectuses in the collection date from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
The collection largely consists of programmes from orchestral concerts. The majority of programmes from the 1920s and 1930s are from concerts given by the Reid Symphony Orchestra, as part of the series "Reid Orchestral Concerts". These programmes include analytical programme notes and musical examples. The remainder of programmes from the 1920s and 1930s include a number of programmes from concerts given as part of the series "Paterson's Orchestral Concerts". Later programmes include performances by the Reid Orchestra, Scottish Orchestra and Scottish National Orchestra (originally the Scottish Orchestra).
