Collection name
Royal Academy of Music, Jersey programmes (1960-1980)
Unique identifier
Description
A collection of 49 programmes from concerts largely given in Jersey - with a small amount from Guernsey, see below - from 1960 to 1980. The concerts featured students of the Royal Academy of Music, usually as a small orchestra. These were conducted by Charles Strafford. There are a few programmes from concerts of choral music given by the Jersey Festival Choir: the orchestral accompaniment was usually provided by the students of the Royal Academy of Music, as well as some of the solo roles. Conductors of these concerts include Anthony Lewis. There are a few programmes from concerts of solo repertoire, performed by recent graduates of the Royal Academy of Music.
The programmes are from concerts that took place at a variety of venues. A substantial amount of programmes are from concerts that took place in Victoria College. The remainder of programmes are from concerts that took place at the following venues: Wesley-Grove Church; Les Quennevais School; Opera House, St. Helier; Gloucester Hall, Fort Regent.
In addition to programmes from Jersey, there are also a small number of programmes from Guernsey. These are from concerts that took place in St. Peter Port Secondary School, which is located in Guernsey.
The programmes include orchestra lists, and a few programmes include loose press cuttings.
Arrangement:
The programmes are arranged chronologically.
