Description One volume of programmes from Vasco V. Akeroyd’s Symphony Orchestra, from 1911 to 1912. The programmes include orchestra lists and programme notes. The volume contains eight programmes, representing the first to eighth concert in the series. The programmes are from concerts in October to February inclusive, and the concerts ran on Tuesday nights approximately once a fortnight. The programmes indicate that this season was the third series of concerts. The concerts were given in the Philharmonic Hal, Liverpool. The concerts were conducted by Vasco V. Akeroyd – except the eighth concert, which featured orchestral compositions by Stanford conducted by the composer. The concerts were largely in the following formation: first half containing symphony and/or concerto, alongside smaller orchestral works and one or two solo items; second half consisting of both short orchestral works and solo items.
