Collection name McCann Collection: Switzerland (1925-1992)

Description A collection of one box of programmes from the McCann Collection. The collection contains programmes from concerts given outside the United Kingdom and were collected by the concert agent Norman McCann (1920-1999). The majority of programmes are from the 1970s and 1980s.

There are programmes from the following venues:

Bern:
Casino Bern, Grosser Saal (2); Konservatoriums Bern, Grosser Saal; Radio DRS, Studio Bern, Schwarztorstrasse.

Geneve:
Victoria Hall; Hotel de ville, Geneve (2 prospectuses; 1 programme, which includes some loose ephemera); Grand Theatre de Geneve (2 programmes); Studio Ernest Ansermet; ERA, Studio G. de Agostini (3).

Zurich:
Radio-Studio Zurich; Opernhaus Zurich; Tonhalle Zurich, Grosser Saal (1 prospectus; 2 programmes)

Other venues:
Grande Salle, Lucens; Stadt-Casino, Basel; Chapelle Protestante, Grand-Lancy [Lancy]; Parco Civico, Lugano; Hero Conserven, Lenzburg; Musiksaal, Basel.

Festivals:

Honegger-Fest in Basel (1 prospectus); Festival Tibor Varga [Sion-Valais Suisse] (2 prospectuses; 1 programme); Bregenzer Festspiele (1 prospectus); Festival de Musique, Montreux ? Vevy (10 prospectuses, 1 press-cutting).

In addition, there is a prospectus from the Symphonisches Orchester Zurich. Though the majority of concerts listed took place in Zurich in particular, in the Tonhalle Zurich, Grosser Saal a number of other venues in Switzerland are represented. There is a programme from a concert given in three separate towns/cities in Switzerland.

There is also a programme from a concert that took place in the Grand Salle du Pavillon. Though the geographic location is not specified on the programme, there is evidence that the concert took place in Montreux.

There is a programme from a concert that took place in the 'Basilika Mariastein'. Though the geographic location is not specifically mentioned on the programme, the concert appears to be connected to the town of Basserach.
