Collection name McCann Collection: Miscellaneous (1963-1968)

Description One scrapbook of programmes from 1963 to 1968. The programmes are from the United Kingdom, Isle of Mann and Eire. The collection includes a number of programmes promoted by Norman McCann. There are also a number of programmes from concerts featuring Lucille Graham (wife of Norman McCann). The majority of the collection has one programme per leaf; occasionally there is one programme per page or even two programmes per page.

The collection includes a large number of opera and dance programmes, including a number of programmes from the dance event "Spanish Fiesta" and programmes from the Dublin Grand Opera Society from performances given in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.

The collection includes a significant number of concert programmes and programmes from entertainments which included concert items: Winter Gardens Pavilion Theatre, Blackpool; Greenford Hall [Ealing] (2 + 1 ballet); Hintlesham Hall, Ipswich; Putney Embankment, Leaders Gardens; Acton Town Hall [Ealing] (2); Battersea Central Library; Battersea Town Hall [Lavender Hill]; Music à la Carte, St. Martin’s Lane [“Opera Restaurant”]; Lewisham Concert Hall (7 - including Ballet etc.); De Montfort Hall, Leicester; Princess Theatre, Torquay (1 flyer including concert details; 6 programmes for opera or ballet); Fairfield Hall, Croydon (2); Brangwyn Hall, Swansea; Solihul Civic Hall; Gaiety Theatre, Douglas, Isle of Man; City Hall, Newcastle; Royal Albert Hall; Civic Hall, Wolverhampton; Paignton Festival Hall; Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone; Queen Elizabeth Hall (2); Lesser Free Trade Hall; Theatre Royal, St. Helens (4 items incl. flyers, programmes); Wigmore Hall (5); Purcell Room (6); Guildhall [London?]; Ealing Town Hall.

Vilem Tausky); Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra; Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra (including performances with the Copenhagen University Choir); Welsh tour by the London Philharmonic Orchestra (28/11-2/12 1963); Welsh tour by Bulgarian Svetoslav Obretenov a Capella Choir (10/11-17/11 1966); Welsh tour by Bulgarian Chamber Orchestra (1968); Welsh tour by Bulgarian National Choir (no year, but after 1966); Welsh tour by Budapest Symphony Orchestra.

There are prospectuses from the following festivals: Llangollen International Eisteddfod (3); Hintlesham Summer Festival; Annual Festival of Music [Nottingham Masonic Music Association – concerts held in the Masonic Hall, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham]; Wallasey Arts Festival. There is a concert programme from the Harlow Festival where the concert venue has not been specified.

There is a programme from a joint venue concert series held in Ealing Town Hall and Woodlands Hall, Crown Street, Acton. There is a concert diary from the District of Cwmbran (Sept. 1965 to May 1966). There is also a small amount of programmes where the venue has not been specified.
