Collection name McCann Collection: Israel (1944-1994)

Description A collection of one box of programmes from the McCann Collection. The collection contains programmes from concerts given outside the United Kingdom and were collected by the concert agent Norman McCann (1920-1999).

The majority of programmes are from concerts given after the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, with the exception of one programme from Jerusalem in 1944.

There are programmes from the following venues:
Manger Square, Bethlehem; Frederic R. Mann Auditorium, Tel Aviv (2); Tel Aviv Museum, Leon and Mathilde Recanati Auditorium (given as part of the Israel Festival); YMCA Hall, Jerusalem (concert given in 1944, organised by the Palestine Conservatoire of Music, Jerusalem).

There are items from the following organisations and festivals:
Israel Chamber Orchestra (1 season prospectus, for concerts in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa; 1 concert programme (venue unspecified)); Israel Festival.

There is a programme from a concert given by the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. Though the venue is specified as “Shavit Hall”, it is not certain whether this venue is located in Haifa or the surrounding area (there is a venue of this name located in Givatayim, a district of Tel Aviv). There is a programme from a gala evening given by the Israel National Opera. The location of the concert has not been specified.
