A collection of programmes from London theatres beginning "E" to "G".
Concerts:
The collection contains a few programmes from orchestral concerts; venues used for orchestral concerts include the Empire Theatre, Faculty of Arts Theatre and Gaumont State Theatre. There are a few programmes from concerts at the Gaumont State Theatre as part of the “Sunday Symphony Concerts”: the programmes date from 1948-1949 and include performances by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. There is also a programme from a concert of Irish songs, given at the Fortune Theatre.
Staged:
There are a substantial amount of programmes from the Fortune Theatre, mostly from opera performances. There are also a number of programmes from the Empire Theatre, including six from Diaghlieff’s 1919 season of Russian ballet. Both the Globe theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue and Shakespeare’s Globe feature in the collection. There are programmes from 1911 to 1987 at the former, and programmes from 1997 onwards at the latter, including a programme from the opening season.
