Collection Description

Collection name London: Music Clubs and Societies: Music Society, St. John's Institute (1921-1939)
Unique identifier
Description A collection of 24 programmes from Music Society, St. John's Institute, from 1921 to 1939. The collection includes a few press cuttings. The 1921-1922 season was the second season of the society.

Though the programmes do not specify venue, it could be presumed that the concerts took place in the St. John's Institute. The St. John's Institute is based on Tufton Street, Westminster.

The programmes are largely from "Meetings" which consisted of chamber music concerts or other recitals. A significant amount of the programmes are from string quartet concerts, including a number of performances by the "International String Quartet".
