Collection name
London: Houses: Non-Private: Lancaster House and Stafford House (1907-1996)
Unique identifier
Description
A collection of seven programmes from Lancaster House and Stafford House, from 1907 to 1996. Stafford House was originally a private house, but became Lancaster House in 1913 and a government building.
The programmes are from concerts and dinners held at the house. The collection includes two programmes from concerts celebrating a notable performance by Chopin in 1848: the performance was given to Queen Victoria and various members of the Royal family assembled at Stafford House. The commemoration concerts were given in 1949 and 1986, by Stanislav Szpinalski and Alan Kogosowski respectively.
