Description
A collection of 22 programmes and prospectuses for Burlington House, Piccadilly, from 1855 to 1993. The majority of programmes in the collection are from concerts which took place in the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House.
The earliest programme in the collection is from a concert given on 9th June 1855. The concert was entitled "Promenade Musicale" and was given by the band of the "Royal Regiment of Hourse Guards (Blue)". There is a programme from 1924 given by the band of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. There is a programme from the London Music Festival, 1939, from a concert organised by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
The remainder of the collection consists of programmes from the 1960s onwards. The collection includes a number of programmes from the concert series "Youth and Music Cushion Concerts" in the 1980s. There are also a number of programmes from the series "Music for Summer Evenings", given by the Philomusica, in the 1970s.
