Collection Description

Collection name London: Festivals: City of London Festival (1962-2002)
Unique identifier
Description A collection of two boxes of programmes from the City of London Festival, from 1962 to 2002. The Festival was usually entitled the "Festival of the City of London" until the early 1980s. The collection contains festival programmes, brochures and concert programmes. The festival takes place in a variety of venues in London, including churches, concert halls and livery halls. Though the majority of events take place in the City of London, there are a few events held in venues in neighbouring boroughs – for instance, Southwark Cathedral. The festival takes place for between two to three weeks in the summer, though early festivals were slightly shorter. The festival took place in July until 1995, when it shifted to an earlier time-period: namely late June/early July.
