A collection of four boxes of material from the Royal Academy of Music, from 1825 to 2005. The collection is divided into four parts: concert programmes (2 boxes + 1 folder); opera programmes (1 box); miscellaneous material (1 folder); concert diaries (half a box).
Concert programmes (1825-2000)
The programmes are largely from concerts organised by the Royal Academy of Music, which took place at the Academy. However, the collection includes programmes from concerts which given at the Royal Academy of Music but organised by external groups. Examples include concerts organised by the Schubert Society, and concerts given by the London Repertoire Orchestra.
The collection includes programmes from a variety of venues within the Academy. These include the following venues: Duke's Hall; Theatre; Sir Jack Lyons Theatre. In addition, the collection includes a few concerts from Royal Academy of Music events organised at external venues, such as the New Scala Theatre and St. Marylebone Parish Church.
The concert programmes date from 1894 to 2000, with one programme from 1825. This programme is from a concert entitled "Morning Concert" given on 30/06/1825 at the Hanover Square Rooms.
The collection also includes a small amount of material from events such as festivals and commemorative concerts. For instance, there is a significant amount of material from the 150th anniversary celebrations in 1872.
Opera programmes (1949-2002)
The programmes are from opera performances given by students of the Royal Academy of Music, from 1949 to 2002.
Prospectuses (1974-1998)
A collection of five prospectuses from the Royal Academy of Music, from 1974 to 1998.
Miscellaneous (1922-1989)
A collection of miscellaneous ephemeral items, which include magazines, invitations, press cuttings, copies of the charter of the Royal Academy of Music, seating plans, fundraising brochures, concert calendars.
Concert diaries (1970-2005)
A collection of concert diaries for concerts organised and held at the Royal Academy of Music, from 1970 to 2005.
