Collection Description

Collection name London: Conservatoires: London Opera Centre (1967-1977)
Unique identifier
Description A collection of 12 programmes from the London Opera Centre, from 1967 to 1977. The Centre was founded in 1963, and subsequently became the National Opera Studio in 1977. The performances usually used choruses and orchestras from various London conservatoires, including Trinity School of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Royal College of Music. Some of the programmes contain annotations, and there are also a few press cuttings. Though not explicitly stated on the programmes, it is assumed that at least some of the performances took place at the premises of the London Opera Centre, located at 490 Commercial Road, on the site of an old cinema.
