Collection name London: Bechstein Hall (1901-1914)

Description A collection of ca. 170 programmes from the Bechstein Hall, 1901 to 1914. The collection is not complete, but includes programmes from the inaugural concert (1/6/01, 2 copies) to 11/11/14. Concerts were chiefly recitals and chamber concerts, with occasional orchestral concerts. Concerts were often organised by one of the following organisations: Curtius Concert Club, Concert Club, Concert Goers' Club, Joachim Committee concerts and Classical Concert Society (formerly the Joachim committee concerts). The Bechstein Hall was renamed "Wigmore hall" in 1917: please see separate record for details of this collection.
