Description
A collection of programmes from concerts given in London, 1803 to 1814. The programmes are from mixed concerts and date chiefly from 1813 to 1814. The majority of programmes in the collection are from concerts given or assumed to have been given in the New Rooms, Hanover Square. The programmes include the words to relevant items in the concert.
The programmes from New Rooms, Hanover Square include a series of concerts entitled "Bartleman, C. Knyvett, W. Knyvett, and Greatorex's Vocal concert". The collection contains eight programmes from the series dating from March to May 1814; the collection does not include a programme from the third concert in this series. There are also programmes from various benefit and other miscellaneous concerts given in the New Rooms, Hanover Square during 1812 to 1814.
The collection contains programmes from the "Concert of Antient Music": though the venue is not listed on the programmes, these are likely to have taken place in the Hanover Square Rooms. The collection contains ten programmes from March to June, 1813.
In addition, there are a few programmes from concerts given in the Great Rooms, King's Theatre and the Opera Concert Room in the period 1803-1808.
