Description
A collection of 31 programmes and prospectuses from Southampton, from 1925 to 1992.
The collection includes programmes from the following venues: Gaumont Theatre; Guildhall; Mayflower Theatre. The programmes from the Gaumont Theatre and Mayflower Theatres, are largely from opera performances. These include performances given by Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera and English National Opera. The programmes from the Guildhall are from orchestral and choral concerts, often - though not exclusively - featuring visiting, London-based orchestras.
In addition, there are a number of programmes from venues within the University of Southampton, including the Nuffield Theatre and the Turner Sims Concert Hall. There are three programmes from concerts organised by the Southampton Chamber Music Club, from the 1920s. These programmes do not specify the concert venue. The collection includes a prospectus and application form and a flier from the Southampton International New Music Week, held in September 1989.

The programmes are arranged by date, then chronologically. Programmes without a venue and festival items are at the end of the sequence.
