Description
A collection of six folders of programmes and prospectuses from the Holywell Music Room, from 1915 to 1996.
The first half of the collection consists of programmes from concerts organised by the Oxford University Musical Club and Union from 1915 to 1935. These programmes are from "meetings" of the society, and are usually chamber music concerts or solo recitals.
After a programme from the "Oxford Wartime Music Club" in 1939 (two copies), the rest of the collection continues in 1951. The remainder of the collection consists of programmes and prospectuses from a wide variety of concert-giving organisations, including student societies such as the Wadham College Music Society and town-based societies such as "Music at Oxford" and the series "Coffee Concerts". Programmes are from a variety of performances, including chamber music concerts, solo recitals, orchestral concerts and operatic performances.
