Unique identifier
Description A collection of seven programmes, prospectuses and playbills from the Theatre Royal, Manchester from 1840 to 1911.

The first item in the collection is a playbill from 8 January 1840. The programme included a music play ("Guy Mannering") and a three-act drama. The musical play featured Mr and Mrs Wood in the lead roles.

The remainder of the collection consists of programmes and prospectuses relating to performances of the Ring in 1911. These refer to a complete performance of the whole Ring cycle, given under the auspices of "Herr Ernst Denhof's Operatic Festival Performances (In English)". The programmes claim that this was the first complete performance of the Ring in Manchester.
