Description The programmes with words for the four morning performances of the Yorkshire Grand Musical Festival, given daily at York Minster between 23 and 26 September 1823, held with programmes and wordbooks for the First and Second Grand Concerts given as part of the same event on the evenings of 23 and 25 September 1823 at the Great Assembly Room, York.

Documentation for both the morning and event concerts includes a list of the Patrons for the events and cites the following vocal and instrumental performers: Madame Catalani, Miss Stephens, Miss D. Travis, Miss Goodall and Mrs Salmon; Mr Vaughan, Mr Sapio, Mr W. Knyvett, Mr Buggine, Mr Bellamy, Mr Isherwood and Signor Placci (vocal), with Mr Camidge and Dr Camidge (assistant conductors) and Mr White and Mr Philip Knapton (organ).

Programmes for the morning concerts contain lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles, led by Mr Cramer (morning) and Mr Mori (evening), conducted by Thomas Greatorex.

Morning: 23-26 September 1823.
The performance on 24 September was of Handel, The Messiah. The remainder were three-part Grand Selections of Sacred Music.

Evening: 23 and 25 September 1823.
These were two-part Miscellaneous Selections, consisting primarily of vocal music but with orchestral overtures/symphonies at the start of each part and with occasional instrumental solos/concertantes given by Mr Lindley (cello) and Mr Nicholas (flute)/Signor Puzzi (horn) and Mr Mori (violin).
