Description Programmes and running orders for two ceremonies held as part of the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

1.
Running order for the Ceremonies of Dedication Day, held on 21 October 1892 in the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building. The music on this occasion included a Columbian March, composed by Professor John Knowles Paine of Cambridge, and choruses by Handel, Haydn and Beethoven. Also, performances of The Star Spangled Manner and Hail Columbia, with full chorus and orchestra. In addition to music, the ceremony included prayers, addresses and readings.

Closing Ceremony, 30 October 1893
The music on this occasion included a Jubilee March, written in honour of the Exposition by Louis Adolphe Coerne, and conducted by the composer. Also, various other works based on national tunes, performed by Innes’ 13th Regiment Band and 8th Cavalry Band of the Republic of Mexico.

This material also includes a transcript of a lecture given by The World’s Congress Auxiliary of the World’s Columbian Exposition.
