Description Programme and wordbook for the first performance of a Grand Musical Festival, given by the Royal Society of Musicians on 2 June 1785 at Westminster Abbey.

This was a three-part concert of orchestral, instrumental and vocal/choral music by Handel, conducted by Joah Bates.

The document includes a list of the Directors and Patrons for the event and carries a statement regarding the financial activities of the Royal Society of Musicians over the previous year.

The wordbook lists the following vocal performers: Miss Abrams and Miss Harwood; Signor Tasca and Madame Mara; Messrs Bellamy, Corfe, Dyne, Harrison, Knyvett, Norris, Osmand, Parry, Reinhold and Saville.
