Description
Programmes and wordbooks for performances given on 10, 11, 12 and 13 June 1834 at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford as part of the University Musical Festival.
The first concert was a performance of an oratorio by William Crotch, entitled The Captivity of Judah. The remainder were two-act miscellaneous performances, predominantly vocal but with orchestral overtures/symphonies at the beginning of each act and occasional concertante instrumental items.
The programmes for the miscellaneous performances list the names of vocal and instrumental soloists whilst that for 13 June also contains a handwritten annotation, commenting on the provision of an encore.
