Description
Programmes and wordbooks for benefit performances given by Mr Machin on 25 February 1831 and 15 January 1834 at the Theatre, Lichfield, held with a programme and wordbook for Mr Hunt's Farewell Concert, given at the same venue on 16 December 1835.
All three concerts were two-part performances of vocal music, with orchestral overtures/symphonies at the beginning of each act. Mr Machin's concert of 1831 included a number of instrumental solos in each part whilst Mr Hunt's concerts featured an instrumental Fantasia in each section.
- Mr Machin's Benefit Concerts
25 February 1831: Messrs Bennett, Hunt, Pearsall and Machin and Madame Stockhausen (vocal), Mr Nicholson (flute), Mr Shargool (violin) and Mr Stockhausen (harp).
15 January 1834: Miss Woodyatt, Mr and Mrs Knyvett and Mr Gould and Mr Machin (vocal), led by Mr Shargool (leader) with Mr Hunt (piano).
- Mr Hunt's Farewell Concert
The programme includes a list of the patrons of the concert and cites the following solo performers: Miss MacFarren and Mrs Bishop and Messrs Bennett, Hunt, Machin and Pearsall (vocal), Master Read (piano) and Mr Loder (violin).
