Description Souvenir Brochure for the State Opening of the New Building of the Royal College of Music by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, on 2 May 1894.

This document provides a detailed description of the proceedings for the day, including the programme for a Selection of Music played by the Band of the First Life Guards (conducted by Joel Englefield).

There are words for an Ode, written by Mr A.C. Swinburne and set to music by Charles Wood (given by the orchestra and chorus of the College and conducted by the composer) and for the National Anthem, performed by Madame Albani.

The day also included performances of Gluck, Solemn March from Alceste, Wagner, Overture to Die Meistersinger, and Schubert, March in D (arranged for orchestra by August Manns), given by the College Orchestra (conducted by C.V. Stanford).
