Description
The programme and wordbook for a Grand Afternoon Concert given at Stafford House, London on 11 May 1898, for the benefit of Charing Cross Hospital. This was a two-part concert of vocal and instrumental solos, with various recitations and musical sketches.
The programme includes a list of the patrons/committee for the performance and provides the names of the following soloists.
Vocal: Miss Clara Butt, Miss Ada Crossley, Miss Louie Freear, Miss Gertrud Kingston, Miss Letty Lind and Miss Marie Tempest; Madame Ella Russell; Mr Sidney Brough, Mr Maurice Farkoa, Mr Lawrence Kellie, Mr Whitney Mockridge, Mr Jack Robertson, Mr Norman Salmond, Mr Ley Vernon, Mr James Welch and Mr H. Lane Wilson.
Instrumental: Johannes Wolff (violin), Master H. Vernon Warner (piano) and Mr W.H. Squire (cello).
Conductors: Mr F.A. Sewell, Mr Landon Ronald and Mr Thomas Chapman.
