Description
A collection of handbills for performances given at various venues in London under the auspices of the Society of Women Musicians (est. 1911), including handbills for 3 concerts given at the Aeolian Hall and 92 Victoria Street between 1913 and 1914 and for 7 Ivimey Concerts, given largely at private London residences between 1966 and 1971, held within 2 of the 4 folders contained in the third of four boxes of material relating to this Society.
This box also contains printed and handwritten notes and correspondence relating to these performances and to other events given by the Society. The items are listed below as held, ordered chronologically under the title of the folder concerned.
The concerts documented here consisted principally of vocal and instrumental solos and/or chamber music.

24 February 1913, Aeolian Hall, London: 2nd Public Concert, with Miss Evangeline Florence, Miss Florence Macnaughton and Miss Daisy Bucktrout (vocal) and the Society of Women Musicians Choir, conducted by Emily Daymond. Also, Mrs Norman O’Neill and Lily Henkel (piano), Miss Jessie Grimson, Miss Sidney Bostock and Miss Evelyn Hunter (violin), Miss Rebecca Clarke (viola) and Mr W. E. Whitehouse, Miss Stella Fife and Miss May Bartlett (cello) (handbill). Held with this document is a programme containing words, introductory notes regarding the Society, and the names of the Patrons, Committee Members and others involved in the organization). Inserted into the programme is a document detailing the enforced withdrawal of Mrs Norman O’Neill and her replacement with Miss Maude Melliar (oboe), accompanied by Mr Arthur Jones.
28 January 1913, 92 Victoria Street: Members' Meeting, featuring a string quartet of Miss Pattie Upton, Miss E. Carre Smith, Miss A. B. Sich and Mrs Osborne, with Miss Mabel Bartlett, Mrs Faber and Miss Charlotte Fitch (piano) and Madame Amy Dewhurst and Miss Vere Mannooch (vocal).
30 June 1914, Aeolian Hall: Evening Concert in honour of the visit of the President, Madame [Cecile] Chaminade, featuring Chaminade, Madame Ada Crossley, Madame Alma Haas, Miss Beatrice Langley, Miss May Mukle and Mr Ernest Groom.

25 June 1966, Pond House, Dulwich Village: Penny Scott (piano), Jetta Robertson (soprano) and Sylvia Thomas (clarinet), accompanied by Barbara Hill.
17 June 1967, Longwood House, Westmead: Nemet String Trio (Mary Nemet, Christopher Wellington and Olga Hegedus) with a wind quintet of students from Trinity College of Music.
25 November 1969, 13 Drayton Gardens: Gillian Selby-Smith (piano) and Suzanne Green (soprano), accompanied by Eleanor Retallack.
19 February 1970, 6 Stratford Studios: Imogen Cooper (piano) and Carolyn Kimball (soprano), accompanied by Jan Holmquist.

Collections Overview
Founded in 1883, the RCM Library primarily supports the performance, study and research of RCM members. It is also open to the public for reference and research. It contains some 300,000 items, including significant collections of early printed and manuscript material from the 16th to 19th centuries, given to the College upon its foundation, specifically the Libraries of the Sacred Harmonic Society and of the Concerts of Ancient Music. Donations since have included autographs of composers of international renown, amongst them Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert, as well as manuscripts and archives of major British composers. Although a British bias is apparent, the collection also has significant German and Italian manuscripts and early printed holdings. Later acquisitions of printed music include large quantities of out-of-print material, and sizeable collections of performance sets. Audio-visual holdings and the RCM's own sound archive's are also extensive.
