Description A collection, partly in typescript and MS., of works on music (issues of and extracts from periodicals), letters, photographs and other material referring to, or written by the German composer and keyboard player Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933), including two copies of a prospectus (with programmes) for 10 Organ Recitals given at St. Lawrence Jewry, Gresham Street, London between 5 and 17 May 1930 as the Karg-Elert Festival and handbills for organ recitals given in Mannheim and Leipzig in 1929 and 1931.

Note: the shelf-mark given here supersedes Cup.900.p.1. The material is available on microfilm at A. 7510.

1. Karg-Elert Festival: 5-17 May 1930
Each recital consisted of music by Karg-Elert, given by the performers listed below. The prospectus begins with a Biographical Note on Karg-Elert (by Godfrey Sceats) and the programmes include short descriptive notes on certain of the pieces.

14 May 1930: Emlyn Davies, with the Wimbledon Conservatoire Ladies Choir and Narda Hvaler (violin, by permission of Trinity College of Music).

29 November 1931, Johanniskirche, Leipzig: Orgelweihe-Konzert with Ella Stark-Hilarius (soprano), Dr Hans Mlynarczyk (violin), Der Johanniskirchenchor and Willy Stark (organ) (with words).
