Description Programme and wordbook for a performance of Handel, The Messiah, given for the benefit of the Royal Society of Musicians on 30 May 1804 at the New Rooms, Hanover Square.

This document begins with a list of the Committee members for the concert: Dr Edmund Ayrton, Sir William Parsons, Frederic Nicolay, Mr William Dance, Mr Knyvett and Mr Shield.

There are also alphabetical lists of the Honorary and Professional Subscribers to the Royal Society of Musicians and the programme includes a brief introductory statement outlining the financial activity of the Society over the previous year.

The performance was given by Mrs Billington, Miss Crosby, Master Kellner, Master Price and Miss Tennant, Mr Harrison, Mr Nield, Mr W. Knyvett, Mr Sale, Mr J. B. Sale, Mr Gore, Mr Goss, Mr Elliott and Mr Bartleman (vocal), led by Mr [Franz] Cramer and conducted by Mr [Thomas] Greatorex.

Inserted in the programme is a handbill dated 30 May 1804, documenting the replacement of Mrs Billington by Miss Tennant.
