Description
A collection of programmes and programme books/brochures for four productions of works by Handel, given by the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 1962, 1993, 1996 and 2003.
All brochures include lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles, historical notes/essays, a plot Synopsis and biographical notes. Where no other ensemble is stated below, the performances were given with the Royal Opera House Chorus and Orchestra.
14 March 1962, Alcina, with Monica Sinclair, Forbes Robinson, Elizabeth Vaughan, Joan Sutherland, Margreta Elkins and Kenneth Macdonald, conducted by Bryan Balkwill.
22 January 1993: Alcina, with Kathleen Kuhlmann, Stafford Dean, Judith Howarth, Yvonne Kenny, Ann Murray and Anthony Rolfe-Johnson, conducted by John Fisher.
8 March 1996, Semele, with Michael Chance, Felicity Palmer, Ruth Ann Swenson, Peter Rose, Philip Langridge, Judith Howarth, Laura Osario, Natasha Zinni, Timothy Robinson and Danny Macdonald, conducted by Charles Mackerras.
13 October 2003, Orlando, with Alice Coote, Barbara Bonney, Bejun Mehta, Camilla Tilling, Jonathan Lemalu, David Lucas, Suzanne McNaughton and Adam Pudney and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, conducted by Harry Bicket.

Collections Overview
The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
