Description The programme and wordbook for a benefit concert given for the Royal Metropolitan Infirmary on 25 June 1823 at the King's Ancient Concert Rooms, Hanover Square, London, held as the fifth tract of a bound volume, with MS notes by Sir George Smart.

This was a two-part concert, led by Franz Cramer and conducted by Sir George Smart. The programme consisted principally of English and Italian vocal repertory, with solo pieces by J. B. Cramer (piano, act I) and Miss Sharp (harp, act II). The second act opened with Cherubini, Overture to Anacreon.

The programme includes lists of the choral and orchestral ensembles and records the involvement of the following vocal and soloists: Mrs Salmon, Miss Stephens, Miss Goodall, Miss Wensley, Miss Paton, Miss M. Tree and Madame Camporese; Mr Begrez, Mr Sapio, Mr Terrail, Mr Hawes, Mr Evans, Mr Elliot, Mr Phillips and Mr Bellamy.

Also listed in detail are the names of those involved in the organization of the Society, including the patrons and patronesses and the members of the both general committee and the committee responsible for managing this concert.

The programme carries minor annotations in Smart's hand which record the timings of the performance (complete and of individual sections), some minor alterations to the printed programme order, and the works which were encored.

The volume begins with a printed document entitled 'Address on the Origin and Nature of the Institution' (founded 26 April 1820).
