Description
A programme and wordbook for the Royal Academy of Music Students’ Orchestral Concert, given at the Queen’s Hall, London on 16 December 1897, under the direction of Alexander Campbell Mackenzie.
This was a performance of C.V. Stanford, Requiem, preceded by piano concertos by Saint-Saens and Rubinstein, performed by Mr Dezsö Kordy and Miss Marion White.
The vocal soloists for the Requiem are listed as follows: Miss Gertrude Drinkwater, Miss Jane Spicer, Mr William Maxwell and Mr Ford Waltham; Miss Ethel Wood, Mrs Franks, Mr Whitworth Mitton and Mr Frederick Ranalow.
The programmes includes a full list of the orchestral ensemble, led by Mr W. Frye-Parker (an ex-student). There are also analytical programme notes, with musical examples, on the Requiem, written by Stanford.
