Unique identifier d.487.b
Description A collection of programmes for performances given at St. James’s Hall, London in 1903, including analytical programmes for four concerts given as the Richard Strauss Festival (June 1903, under the management of Hugo Görlitz), the programme for an Extra Concert given on 8 June 1903 to introduce the American pianist Richard Platt and the programme and wordbook for a Song Recital given by Frau Pauline Strauss de Ahna on 9 December 1903.

The June performances were concerts of orchestral and solo/concertante music, given by the Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam, conducted by Richard Strauss and Willem Mengelberg: those for the Richard Strauss Festival consisted entirely of music by that composer. There are also historical and analytical programme notes, with words and musical examples, variously attributed to E.F.J. [Edgar F. Jacques], P.P [Percy Pitt] and A.K. [Alfred Kalisch].
