Description
A collection of 10 loose programmes for performances given by the Reading Festival Chorus between 1977 and 1980, held as the fifth of seven envelopes of material relating to the organization.
All concerts were conducted by Peter Edwards and were held at the Town Hall (1977) and the Hexagon Theatre, Reading.
The majority of the documents include programme notes and biographical notes, many with photographs and lists of the orchestral/instrumental ensemble.
Where no other ensemble is cited below, the performances were given by the Reading Festival Chorus and Orchestra. The vocal soloists are listed below.
4 May 1977: Duruflé and Puccini, with Sandra Francis, David Bartleet and Stephen Varcoe and the Reading Symphony Orchestra.
7 December 1977: Handel, Messiah with Margaret Field, Sally Presant, Charles Corp and Peter Knapp.
20 December 1977: A Concert of Carols with Barbara Lowe (soprano) and John Simpson (organ).
10 May 1978: Haydn, The Creation, with Isla Brodie, Charles Corp and Graham Titus.
25 October 1978: Brahms and Rossini, with Margaret Adams, Judith Simmons, David Bartleet and Jonathan Robarts.
14 December 1978: Concert of Carols given by Reading Festival Chorus and Brass Consort.
9 May 1979: Mozart and Haydn, with Margaret Field, Angela Moran, David Bartleet and Michael Bauer.
13 December 1979: Bach, Christmas Oratorio, with Mary Clarkson, Judith Hilary Simmons, Adrian Thompson and Michael Powell and the Capriol Orchestra of London.
29 March 1980: Handel, Messiah, with Margaret Field, Angela Moran, David Bartleet and Michael Bauer.
13 December 1980: Linda Murray, Susan Kessler, Charles Corp and Graham Titus.
