Description A collection of programmes with wordbooks for three concerts given at the Queen's Hall, London on 12 October 1901, 15 February 1904 and 6 June 1905, arranged chronologically.

The programmes for 1904 and 1905 both include historical and analytical notes, with musical examples, and a list of the orchestral ensemble. The notes were written by A.J. Jaeger (1904) and Edgar F. Jacques and Gilbert F. Webb (1905).

12 October 1901: Morning Concert given by Madame Clara Butt (Mrs Kennerley Rumford) and Mr Kennerley Rumford, with Madame Beatrice Langley (violin), Miss Pauline St. Angelo (piano) and Mr Fountain Meen (organ), conducted by Mr F.A. Sewell. This was a concert of vocal and instrumental solos, including the first performances of G.H. Clutsam, Song Cycle, ‘Songs from the Turkish Hills’ and Liza Lehman, Two Little Duets, ‘Snowdrops’, both pieces accompanied by their composers. The programme carries photographs of Butt and Rumford on the front cover.

15 February 1904: first London concert performance of Elgar, The Dream of Gerontius, given by the London Choral Society, with Miss Marie Brema, Mr John Coates and Mr Ffrangcon-Davies (vocal), led by Mr Henry Lewis with Mr C.H. Kempling (organ), conducted by Arthur Fagge.

6 June 1905: Mr Louis Hillier’s Musical Festival concert no.4, given by the Ostend Kursaal Orchestra, with vocalist Ernest van Dyck, conducted by Mr Léon Rinskof, being a programme of music by Wagner and Richard Strauss, including the first English performance of Franck, Symphonic Poem ‘Psyche’ (with photographs of certain of the principal performers). This document also includes a detailed programme for the fifth concert of the Festival, given on 7 June 1905 and including the first complete performance of Charpentier, Suite ‘Impressions d’Italie’. There is also a summary of the programmes for all the concerts in the Festival. Given on 1-3 and 6-8 June, all concerts featured at least one vocal or instrumental soloist and included a first performance of some description.
