Description Order of Service, with words, for a Purcell Commemoration, held on 21 November 1895 at Westminster Abbey, London, being the 200th anniversary of Purcell’s death.

The service included vocal and organ works by Purcell, performed by organists W.J. Winter, Walter Alcock and H. Davan Wetton, under the direction of J.F. Bridge, John Stainer and Arthur Sullivan. The programme provides a full list of the choral and orchestral ensembles, the former being drawn from the choirs of the following institutions: Westminster Abbey; St. Paul’s Cathedral; the Chapel Royal; Bangor Cathedral; All Saints’, Norfolk Square; Berkeley Chapel; St. Luke’s, Uxbridge Road; St. Peter’s, Eaton Square; and Christ Church, Westminster.

The programme includes diagrams of a proposed Purcell memorial organ case, a picture of Purcell and the music for the relevant Collects and a congregational hymn.
