Unique identifier K.6.d.3
Description A largely complete collection of programmes for the concerts of the Philharmonic Society of London, from the 1st to the 56th seasons, 1813-1868 (missing the programmes for the 55th season and all but one of the programmes from the 56th).

The programmes are bound as five volumes, labelled as follows:
Volume 1: 1813-18
Volume 2: 1819-30
Volume 3: 1831-44
Volume 4 (part 1): 1845-55
Volume 4 (part 2): 1856-68

In some cases, texts of the vocal programmes are provided. A number of programmes carry annotations in the hand of Sir George Smart. These refer most consistently to the timings of the performances but they also provide information regarding changes to the printed programme and document other incidents relating to the performance. The majority of the programmes for which annotations are preserved refer to concerts conducted by Smart.

Bound with these programmes is various additional material relating to the Philharmonic Society, including lists of the Subscribers, Members, Associates and orchestral players.
