Description
A collection of programmes for three concerts involving the pianist Ignace Paderewski, given at the Queen's Hall, London on 9 April, and 15 and 19 June 1897.
These were concerts of nineteenth-century repertory. The orchestral performances were given with the Queen's Hall Orchestra (led by Arthur W. Payne and conducted by Henry J. Wood) and the programmes for these include a list of the orchestral ensemble.
Programmes for all concerts include historical and analytical programme notes by Edgar F. Jacques. Those for the orchestral concerts include musical examples.
9 April 1897: Paderewski Orchestral Concert, including piano concertos by Schumann and Liszt given by Paderewski.
15 June: Pianoforte Recital by Paderewski, described as being 'his only recital this season' and including Schumann, Carnival and music by Chopin and Liszt.
19 June [1897]: Grand Orchestral Concert, with Miss Clara Butt (vocal), including Chopin, Piano Concerto No. 2 and the scherzo from a concerto by H. Litolff.
