Collection name Oxford Bach Choir: Box 1 (1908-92)

Description The first of three boxes of material concerning the Oxford Bach Choir, containing various documentation – including Annual Reports, Minutes, tickets and printed announcements – for the period 1908 to 1992.

Also included is an extended sequence of programmes with words for performances given at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford between 1923 and 1992 and programmes with words for performances given at various other English venues – including a number in Oxford – between 1908 and 1963.

Where no other indication is given below, these documents consist of programmes with words, including records of the vocal soloists engaged. Many are held with accompanying A4 posters/handbills, press cuttings and/or photographs and there are multiple copies in many instances.

Unless otherwise stated below, the performances were given with the Oxford Orchestral Society and conducted by Thomas Armstrong (1934-55) and Sydney Watson (1956-1969), Simon Preston (1972-74), Edward Olleson (1975-76) and Christopher Robinson (1985-92).
