Description
A collection of programmes with words for 12 Oratorio Concerts, given at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden between 30 January and 13 May 1826, compiled by Sir George Smart and held as a single bound volume.
All programmes begin with a list of the Principal Vocal Performers. All concerts were led by Mr Mori and conducted by Sir George Smart.
The concerts were given on 30 January, 10, 15, 17, 22 and 24 February, 1, 3, 8, 10, 15 and 17 March and 13 May 1826.
The performances on 30 January, 17 February and 3 March 1826 consisted of Handel, The Messiah. That on 22 February (repeated on 24 February) combined a Grand Miscellaneous Act with the first public performance of Sir J. A. Stevenson whilst that on 15 March including the first public performance of Weber, Grand Jubilee Overture (conducted by the composer). The remaining concerts were referred to as Grand Performances of Antient and Modern Music.

Collections Overview
The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
