Description
The prospectus and programmes with words for the North Staffordshire Triennial Musical Festival, held at Victoria Hall, Hanley, on 25 and 26 October 1899.
The prospectus includes list of the Executive Committee members and of the choral and orchestral ensembles, conducted by Dr Charles Swinnerton Heap. With the exception of that for 26 October (evening), these programmes include historical and analytical notes, with musical examples, by Joseph Bennett.

26 October: S. Coleridge-Taylor, Scenes from Longfellow's 'Song of Hiawatha' (conducted by the composer, the second scene written especially for the Festival) and Miscellaneous Concert.
Evening
25 October: Schumann, Paradise and the Peri and Tchaikovsky, Pathetic Symphony.
26 October: Handel, Messiah.

Collections Overview
The Gerald Coke Handel Collection is an internationally important collection of material relating to Handel and his contemporaries, including manuscripts, printed books and music, libretti, paintings and engravings, memorabilia, art works and ephemera. The Handel collection is open for research Wednesday-Friday, and the display room (with access to recorded music) is open with the rest of the museum Tuesday-Sunday 10-6.
