Description
Programme and wordbook for the second performance of a Grand Musical Festival given by the Royal Society of Musicians on 31 May 1787 at Westminster Abbey.
This was a performance of Handel, The Messiah, conducted by Joah Bates, with Mr John Ashley (assistant conductor).
The document includes lists of the Directors and Assistant Directors and of the Benefactors and Subscribers to the Royal Society of Musicians. There is also a statement regarding the financial activity of the Society over the previous year.
