Description The programme and wordbook for a performance of J.S. Bach, St Matthew Passion, given by the Bach Society, London on 23 March 1858 at St Martin’s Hall, Long Acre.

The performance was given by Madame Weiss, Mrs. Bertha Street, Miss Dolby, Mr Benson, Mr Winn and Mr Weiss (vocal), with Messrs Webb and Blagrove (violin), Messrs Pratten and Rockstro (flute), Mr Horton (oboe) and Mr E.J. Hopkins (organ), led by Mr Dando, conducted by William Sterndale Bennett.

The programme includes a list of the committee members of the Bach Society and carries a historical notes in the form of a Preface, contributed by a member of the Society.
